Everything is turning. Not enough is moving.
I spent fifteen years in the fire service. A fire pump that hasn't been primed will spin at full speed and move nothing. The engine runs, the gauges look busy, and no water comes out.
A lot of businesses run like that. The answer usually isn't more hours. It's getting the thinking right first, then building the machine that does the work.
- i.You're working longer hours than you did when you were employed.
- ii.Marketing happens when you remember to do it, and enquiries go quiet when you stop.
- iii.You know AI could take work off your plate. You just haven't had the time to sit down and set it up.
- iv.You're building it mostly on your own, without people around you who are doing the same.
For most owners, this is the only
day of the year that happens.
Every owner knows the phrase: work on the business, not in it. Almost nobody does it — because the business doesn't stop asking. The phone rings, the follow-ups pile up, and the day you were going to spend thinking gets eaten by the days you spend doing. An Academy Day is that day, taken out of your hands and put in the diary — six of them a year, one every second month, fixed twelve months ahead and never moved.
And it's a room, not another webinar, because something special happens when you put people in one. You learn, you network, you connect — and you leave having worked on all three sides of the triangle: your mental capacity, your plan, and the action you take.
This one is different from every Academy Day that will follow it, for one reason: it's the first. The day the founding members — the people who claimed the £97-for-life lock — sit in a room together for the first time, meet the people they'll see six times a year, and close the day with the next six weeks written down. There will only ever be one first room. Not a member? You're welcome in it — £97 buys the day: come, see what we're doing, spend it in the room, and judge for yourself whether being in it is the right thing to do.
One day, on the business.
Three things, and how
they work together.
Think, Plan, Act. Each one on its own helps. Used together, they're how a business starts, grows and scales without the owner carrying all of it. Mainly teaching, with time set aside to put it into your business before you leave. Bring a laptop.
Mindset first. What it takes to start, grow and scale, and what tends to get in the way.
The thinking that decides what you do next
The part most business owners skip, and the part that shapes everything after it. What it takes to start, grow and scale, and what tends to get in the way.
- The Momentum Triangle — Think · Plan · Act
- STEAR — State · Thoughts · Emotions · Actions · Results
- The mindset to start, the mindset to grow, and the mindset to scale
The marketing engine. Map your seven stages and find the one that's costing you most.
Where your business is leaking
How a stranger becomes a customer, and a customer becomes the one who sends you the next. We map it stage by stage and find the one that's costing you most.
- Our seven stages, mapped — from Attention to Refer
- Attention and Connect — getting seen, then getting the conversation
- The Momentum Engine and the Impeller framework
Momentum AI, hands-on. Set up and start training your own AI, working on your own business.
The repeated work, off your plate
How to use AI in your business, and inside Momentum AI, so the repeated work stops depending on you — set up in the room, on your own business.
- Set up and train an AI that builds a training programme, for your team or your customers
- AI for video and the rest of your content
One thing you'll do differently. And the people to do it alongside.
- A clearer view of the thinking behind your next move
- Your seven stages mapped, and your biggest leak named
- Your own AI set up and started on a training programme
- Ways to use AI for video and content from Monday
- A room of business owners working on the same things, and a community that carries on after the day
Can't name one thing you'll do differently? Every penny back.
If you get to the end of the day and can't name one thing you're going to do differently in your business — or you simply aren't happy — tell us in the bar that evening, or email the next morning. Your ticket, your membership, all of it comes back. No forms, no hard feelings. Read the full guarantee →
Seven stages. Stage seven feeds stage one.
In the fire service the impeller is the part of the pump that turns potential energy into movement. That's the job of this engine: turning the potential in your business into customers, and customers into the people who bring you more.
It's a circle, not a funnel.
This is the day the guarantee
lives on.
Come to your first Academy Day. For everyone in the first room, that's this one.
If you get to the end of it and you can't name one thing you're going to do differently in your business — or you simply aren't happy — tell us in the bar that evening. Or email the next morning, if you'd rather not do it face to face.
Every penny you've paid comes back. Your ticket, your membership, all of it. No forms, no notice period, no hard feelings.
You keep everything you learned that day — and you'd still get a handshake on the way out.
Terry Gormley
I left school and went down a coal mine in October 1982. I was seventeen. After that came fifteen years in the fire service, and I started my first business in 1998 while I was still serving.
Since then I've bought four seven-figure businesses, built others from scratch, and raised more than five million pounds from the City to fund various deals. Along the way I trained directly with John Grinder, one of the two men who created NLP, and I've spent over twenty years helping business owners and athletes change how they think and what they do.
Everything on this day is something I've used in my own businesses first.
Before I met Terry, it was only a matter of time before I came out of football.

- The One Thing Guarantee stands on this day
The first room of many.
The Academy calendar is fixed twelve months ahead and never moves — a room in Sheffield every six weeks, and members book every seat before the public.
Members pay less for every room on this calendar and book every seat three weeks before the public — and in the Forge, all of it is included.
The questions everyone has.
For Academy members the day is part of the membership — nothing to pay. For everybody else it's £97 for the day. The dinner on the Tuesday evening is included in the Forge; for Academy members and everybody else it's £35, optional and pre-paid, so the bill never appears at the table. Drinks are your own.
Anyone. For members the day is included; everybody else pays £97 for the day. If you're not a member, that's rather the point of coming: see what we're doing, spend the day in the room with Terry and the founding members, and judge for yourself whether being in it is the right thing to do.
Yes — your membership carries two golden tickets a year, and each one waives a guest's £97 day ticket, so your guest comes to the day for nothing (dinner the night before is £35 if they'd like it). No golden ticket? A guest can simply buy the £97 day ticket.
A full day — 09:00 to 17:00 — in three parts. Think: mastering your mindset. Plan: your marketing engine, with your seven stages mapped and your biggest leak named. Act: Momentum AI, hands-on, setting up and training your own AI on your own business. Mainly teaching, with time to put it into your business before you leave — so bring a laptop.
Dinner together at 19:30 on the Tuesday — included for Forge members, £35 for everyone else, pre-paid so the bill never appears at the table. The bar opens at 21:00, with nothing to pay to be there and nobody checking a list; Terry's in it, and he doesn't leave early. Forge members start earlier: the Forge session runs from 18:00 and is done by dinner.
Tap Get your place on the members' card above and leave your name and the email address you joined the Academy with. We check your membership automatically — monthly, annual or Forge — and email you the booking link with the right tickets for you. Venue details follow with your booking.
Sheffield, in person, on Wednesday 18 November. The venue is confirmed in your booking email.
The calendar never moves, so the next room is Thursday 10 December — and the One Thing Guarantee travels with you: it stands on the first Academy Day you actually attend. But this is the only first room there will ever be, so move what can be moved.
